Choosing Life, Not Death

The Psalmist David put it so beautifully – “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” He also said “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” I am a passionate defender of these truths, and Dr. Seuss was right when he said, “A person is a person, no matter how small.”

The murder of over 60 million unborn children cries out to heaven for justice and it is our responsibility – we, the people of our country and of Alabama – to stand in the gap for the most vulnerable in what should be the safest place, the womb.

I stand for the immediate and unqualified abolishing of abortion, coupled with passionate mercy ministries to help mothers and babies find the care, homes, and love that they need. This is true love in action – the opposition of evil and the supplying of a glorious alternative.

This battle, like many others, has been hindered by “fair weather” politicians who play the pro-life card to get elected but never actually really want to take action. This has sadly been the case with many supposed pro-life institutions who don’t actually want to END ABORTION NOW. It is my intention to take this seriously and act on it tangibly.

Are their other vital needs for mothers and families around this discussion? Absolutely! Love and compassion are greatly needed to help those in great difficulty. But our solutions must NEVER justify the murder of our children for the resolution of a real challenge or difficulty. Giving our children the gift of life and making better choices and overcoming hardships are not enemies to each other. They can, should and must all be pursued together as we promote and pass on to our children a heritage of life, family, compassion and responsibility that will give them a solid foundation for life and freedom.
